Why static tech packs cost money
A tech pack exported as a flat document is a snapshot. The moment a measurement, a trim or a colour changes, someone rebuilds it, and the version the factory holds may not be the version design believes is current.
Almost every production error traced back to documentation is a version error rather than a specification error.
An edit, not a rebuild
Because measurements, materials and the bill of materials are auto-filled from the design files and product libraries rather than typed in, changing the source changes the pack. Colorway-specific instructions follow the same route.
Vendors still receive the format they are used to — the editability is on your side of the handoff, not theirs.
