Why colorways get expensive
Every additional colorway is another set of approvals, another swatch to check and another line in the bill of materials. Most of the cost sits in the drift between what was signed off, what reached the factory and what came back.
Keeping colour as structured data rather than a note in a file is what stops that drift.
See it before you commit
Colour reads differently on a flat sketch than on a garment. Seeing the pattern or fabric on the finished shape, rather than a swatch square, is how a colorway gets judged.
A colorway approved in design is the one the tech pack carries into production.
Carried into production
